A Love letter to the Lover of my Soul

Who am i that You delight in my foolish and selfish ways

The Creator of the heavens and the earth delights in the ways of mere dust

You dedicate Your Being to loving Me

Who am i that you dedicate Your Eyes to watching me every second lest i walk into the trap of the enemy

Your anger is stirred up against all my enemies

And out of the breath of Your nostrils, You consume them all

Out of the same breath, You breathe Life into my dust continually

You never let anything take me away from Your hands

Not life,death,angels or demons

You guard my heart with Your love

And even when You turn your face away and afflict me,

You let the depth of Your love keep me

That i may be refined to Your image by Your fire

In my faithlessness, You are faithful

In my hopelessness, You give me hope

In my weakness, You are strong

In my sadness, You give me joy

You pursue my soul with everything that You are

You bind my wounds by Your tender touch

Powerful protection never felt so gentle

I deserved to die, But in the agony of Your love, You sent Your beloved Son to die in my place

Looking ahead to the joy set before Him, He died for me

You have chosen me in Your mercy to receive Your mercy

Nothing i could do could save myself

My eyes were blinded by Satan from beholding your beauty

But you chose to deliver me in Your mercy; You restored my sight

You gave me Your free gift of salvation by your grace through Faith

Even my Faith and belief in You, You gave to me that i may receive Your grace

In my helpless state, You chose me as Your own and made me a citizen of the commonwealth of heaven

You made me an alien in the earth

I long to behold the beauty of Your Holiness

I long to worship at Your feet for all eternity.

Come Unto Me(Photo of Jesus in the clouds)

Photo taken in the clouds

I was just looking through my facebook Homepage, and i saw a status from the Jesus Daily Page that reminded me of a photo i got from one of my friends weeks ago. The photo above is the photo posted by the Jesus Daily page on facebook. Its very similar to the original copy of the photo my friend showed me which had a very interesting story behind it.

Photo taken in the clouds(Original Copy)

The photo above, is the photo my friend showed me. It is a copy of the original of a photo taken by a christian man when he was on a plane. I’m going to narrate the story my friend told me about the photo because i think it is amazing!

My friend went to a church somewhere in spain and there was a visiting speaker who came along with this photograph. He put it up for members of the congregation to look at and asked them what they thought it was. Many of them were confused as they couldn’t really see it clearly(including my friend).

He told them the story behind it. He was travelling somewhere with his fellow christian friend to minister at a church and then suddenly on the plane there was a problem. The plane started to move uncontrollably(i think it was because of bad weather) like it was going to crash and everyone on it was convinced they were all going to die. The faces of everyone on the plane were full of fear except the 2 christian men on it. Their attitude was, ‘We’re going to see Jesus finally’. However, one of the men wondered why this would happen to them if they were going somewhere to do the work of God; so he prayed to God. He had a camera on Him, so he thought to himself, ‘At least if i took a photograph of how it was outside of the plane then my family would know what was going on’; so he took a photograph with his camera.

Eventually, the turbulence on the plane stopped, and all the passengers survived. The man took his camera to a photography studio and they printed all the photos he had on it for him. When he came to collect the photos they had printed they told him all the photos were alright except a certain photo which appeared blurry.

He took the photo home anyway, and after sometime, he remembered what happened on the plane and how he took the photo of the clouds from his window, when he thought he was going to die.

This is the story behind the photo. I’m not making any assertions about anything, but just look at that photo. For me, it reminds me of Jesus. The resemblance is striking! I love the way His hands are open wide reminding me of Matthew 11:28:  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Somehow, the photo also reminds me of the fact that God is the father of all Light. He is Light Himself. The photo doesn’t show any face. Although i know the majesty of Jesus that we will see later on is far more beautiful than this, this photo reminds me of the majesty and splendor of Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Holy One, the I AM.  Looks like He is wearing a robe to me. All of these resemblances remind me of Revelation 19:11-15.

Revelation 19:11-15 (AMP) :  11 After that I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse [appeared]! The One Who was riding it is called Faithful (Trustworthy, Loyal, Incorruptible, Steady) and True, and He passes judgment and wages war in righteousness (holiness, justice, and uprightness).

12 His eyes [blaze] like a flame of fire, and on His head are many kingly crowns (diadems); and He has a title (name) inscribed which He alone knows or can understand.

13 He is dressed in a robe dyed by dipping in blood, and the title by which He is called is The Word of God.

14 And the troops of heaven, clothed in fine linen, dazzling and clean, followed Him on white horses.

15 From His mouth goes forth a sharp sword with which He can smite (afflict, strike) the nations; and He will shepherd and control them with a staff (scepter, rod) of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath and indignation of God the All-Ruler (the Almighty, the Omnipotent).

16 And on His garment (robe) and on His thigh He has a name (title) inscribed, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Kreativ Blogger Award

I would really love to thank Anne Sikes for nominating me for this award! I cannot begin to express my gratitude in words as i’ve only started blogging recently, hence i wasn’t expecting an award! My greatest desire and motive behind every post i make is that God uses this blog to infuse a desire and thirst for Him that leads people into fellowship with Him. I would also like to recommend Anne’s blog which has been such a blessing to me. She writes very beautiful poems and stories that speak volumes about a lot. Her blog is here: http://mylifeuncutalmost.wordpress.com

This Award was Created by Hulda from Norway and is a gift to encourage us and so we can also have the opportunity to encourage others.

To receive this Award we have to link, if possible, the person who nominated us and thank them, then nominate 7 other Bloggers with their Links who we feel we would like to uplift, inspire, and encourage and then let them know but there is no pressure do so when you feel the time is right.
Finally we are to write 7 things about ourselves that most of our Blogging friends don’t know, then post the Award and attach the Kreativ Blogger Award emblem to our Blog.

All the blogs i follow have been such a blessing and inspiration to me so its quite hard to pick out 7. More recently, these 7 blogs have had quite a lot of interesting posts and have had a lot of impact on my blogging style and life in general:

http://craigmotor.wordpress.com/ – I remember the first day i read her blog. I still remember the title of the post and everything about that post. That’s what Naphtali’s blog does to you! It leaves you with memories! 😀

http://the1savedbygrace.wordpress.com/ – This blog is amazing! When you’re avoiding reading long posts like mine and you need to just look at a few Bible verses and a simple but powerful blog, run to this blog! 😀

http://justmyfaithtalking.wordpress.com/– I love the photos on this blog especially! And the very catchy titles! Very creative and inspiring! 😀

http://theseatedreason.wordpress.com/– I actually think this is one of the most educating and insightful blog around wordpress! I’m glad there are people like this still around to give information about how what’s going on in the world is relevant to christianity! 😀

http://sistersforchrist.wordpress.com/– If you’re looking for blogs that post daily, this is the blog! Its not just amazing because of the consistency in blog updates, but the great content! God bless the owners of this blog! 😀

http://manipalphotoblog.wordpress.com/– ‘A picture paints a thousand words’. This is one of the blogs i admire for its photographs! Makes me wish i had a camera 😦

http://vinnylanni.wordpress.com/– There’s something about this blog i can’t seem to place a finger on! It is sort of what i had in mind when i decided to start blogging. Its got some news on wrestling too!(Which i always loved watching 😉 )

I’ll tell you seven things about my blog/me you never knew :). Mainly about my blog though 😛
  1. I never planned for this blog to take the structure it has taken now. I wanted to write on a mixture of articles on entertainment, music, religion and culture. But somehow, i’ve most recently shared my thoughts on what i think of Nigeria and tried to share what God’s been teaching me 🙂
  2. I pray after every post i write and ask God to use it as He pleases 😀
  3. I found this post really difficult to make 😦
  4. I find it annoying when christians who are lukewarm call me a ‘pastor’ when i’m not. I believe that every christian should have an understanding of the Bible, and should have an intimate relationship with Christ. I’m just being a normal christian; I’m not a pastor! Lol 😛
  5. I love music! I sing and i love dancing too(except i can’t dance lol). I like writing lyrics to songs. Recently, i’ve written some christian worship songs lyrics(they don’t have a tune yet). God has asked me  to ask Him to put a new song in my mouth and to open my lips to declare His praise, and i’ve been asking Him. Hopefully, He’ll answer soon 😀
  6. I love funny people! I like being around people that make me laugh and i just can’t stand a heavy spirit. You know one of those yucky feelings inside you, when you feel you haven’t done something to the best of your ability? I hate those ones!!!
  7. I used to be scared of cats all my life when i was still in Nigeria. I could never live with them or stay in the same place they were. You don’t want to know why i was scared lol. But now, i live with 2 cats in London 😉

Love, Faith and the Gifts of the Spirit 2

In my last post, i wrote briefly on how Faith is worked out by love. Love is the height of spiritual maturity. I spoke on how Love is the battery for our faith torchlight. Furthermore, the gifts of the spirit are received by us from God by faith. So the gifts of the spirit are energized by faith, and faith energized by Love.

The gifts of the spirit cannot be kicked out of the Bible like it doesn’t matter or it doesn’t exist. However, every gifts of the spirit should be rooted in Love. It becomes a problem when people use their gifts not entirely wisely, or when people don’t even recognise that they have a spiritual gift given to them specially by the Holy Spirit. I believe that the gifts of the spirit are given to believers for the building of the body of Christ. They are given to keep believers steadfast in the faith, and also to draw unbelievers into the faith.

Hebrews 2:4 explains how it keeps believers in the faith when it says:  ‘[Besides this evidence] it was also established and plainly endorsed by God, Who showed His approval of it by signs and wonders and various miraculous manifestations of [His] power and by imparting the gifts of the Holy Spirit [to the believers] according to His own will.’

Let’s take a look at the life of Jesus when he was in the world. Out of the love of God for mankind, He sent Jesus into the world. Jesus demonstrated this love to people when He healed the sick, raised the dead, taught the scriptures, and went about doing good.

Once at a prayer meeting, i described Peter as ‘loud’ and compared him to John the beloved. Afterwards, i had a tough time with God as he convicted me of what i said. Peter had a function as much as John did. He had revelations from God and that was why he could tell Jesus, ‘You are the Christ! The Son of the Living God!’. Maybe Peter was not as ready to receive the love of Christ as John was, but he sure did have a role to play. He was full of passion and enthusiasm. Jesus even told him, ‘You are a rock, and on this rock i will build my church and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it’. Jesus also said Satan had asked specifically for Peter to be sifted into his hands. Satan must have seen something special in Peter.

I wondered why God convicted me of what i said and it occurred to me that Peter was the one that gave the sermon at Pentecost. Peter was the first disciple to perform the first healing after Christ ascended. Interestingly, Peter was with John when this happened. I believe that John had to be there because he was the one with the revelation from Christ on love. The healing had to be driven out of love. I don’t know if this happens to you, but recently when i see sick people around me, i feel really moved with compassion, and then i pray in my heart for God to heal them. It just comes naturally for me to do that because i know God loves them.

Like i pointed out above, the reason why Christ healed people and performed miracles was because he loved them. It was his way of expressing His love for them. We should aim to be like Christ. He was love and out of that love He did supernatural works in the lives of people.

Love had to come down in the person of Jesus before the spirit of God was poured out from heaven. Its sad how love is separated from the gifts of the spirit nowadays because the reason why God gives us these gifts is to use them to show love to others. Even Paul warns the church at corinth that every gift of the spirit is nothing without love: ‘But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces). And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one that is better by far and the highest of them all–love].

We should earnestly Love because outside of Love, there is no proper gift of the spirit. The gifts of the spirit are nothing without love. Love and gifts of the spirit should be united together. I would even go as far as saying that, every ‘gift of the spirit’ manifested anywhere, without the love of God at its root is not of the Spirit of God but of the spirit of the antichrist. 1 John 4:3 says the spirit of the antichrist is already in the world. 2 Thessalonians 2:9 also says that the coming of the antichrist is through the activity and working of Satan and will be attended by great power and with all sorts of pretended miracles and signs, lying wonders and delusive marvels. In case, you didn’t know, demons teach doctrines. 1 Timothy 4:1 talks about how in the latter times some christians will turn away from the faith, giving attention to seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach.

So we have to very alert and very careful about the places we go to just because signs and wonders are manifested there. It could be the Spirit of God but could also be the spirit of a demon manifesting. However, i believe the best way to discern if its the Spirit of God is if the motive behind it is the love of God. God is love, and where love abides God abides.

Linking Revelation 3:19 to Proverbs 1:23, when we walk in love, God pours out his spirit on us. Revelation 3:19 says the people that God dearly and tenderly loves, he tells them their faults and convicts, convinces, reproves, chastens, disciplines and instructs them. It admonishes us to have an enthusiastic attitude and to burn with zeal when God tells us our faults(rather than feel condemned); and afterwards repent. Proverbs 1:23 then says: ‘If you will turn(repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I (Wisdom) will pour out my spirit upon you, i will make my words known to you’. Christ is referred to in the Bible as the Wisdom of God, so when we heed to his reproof and instructions, He pours out his spirit on us.

I’ll end by encouraging you to put on love. Putting on love is spiritual warfare. The love of God is powerful. I believe when the love of God comes, everything comes after. If you have been asking God to show you what gifts He has given you, start loving first of all, then see what happens. Love should be the foundation of all the gifts of the spirit.

Love, Faith and the Gifts of the Spirit 1

Like i said in my last post, i would like to keep sharing what God has been teaching me on love. In this post, i will be talking about the importance of love in expressing faith, and using the gifts of the spirit for God’s glory in the church. This post includes a lot of my recent reformed beliefs and i am in no way trying to offend anyone with it. I hope you learn something new from it.

Firstly, today’s church has somehow succeeded in separating the gifts of the spirit from Love. Whole denominations have been formed based on their belief in the gifts of the spirit and other denominations about how they believe we should desire love but not the gifts of the spirit.

Its such a shame how we get denominationalism from such things in the church today because that’s not what Jesus wanted. The other day i was with some of my christian friends, and we met an atheist and he asked, ‘Which one of them are you? The happy-clappy ones or the methodist or baptist’. And then each one of us starting telling him the denomination we belonged to. When he got to me i told him ‘I’m in the middle of it all’. I must admit i felt ashamed that even though we were all christians we had to divide ourselves into groups. There was nothing uniting about someone saying ‘church of england’ and another saying ‘baptist’. Growing up as a teenager, i always referred to myself as a ‘pentecostal’. But one day, i read one of Jesus’s last requests to His father just before he was going to be crucified. He said, “That they all may be one, just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.”

You can imagine Jesus was asking his Father for what was most precious to His heart because He knew He was leaving the world. That is the basis for my non-denominationalism. I may still hold on to my pentecostal beliefs but if you asked me what denomination i was i would just say ‘I’m a christian, a member of the body of Christ’. Imagine what would happen if we could all focus on our similarities and lose sight of our differences? The reason why Jesus asked that we may be one was so that the world may believe and be convinced that his Father sent Him. Expectedly, the atheist we spoke to was from a christian family. His mum was methodist, his grandmother was apostolic and most of his extended family were ‘happy-clappy’. One Church=Won World.

Its even more scary when we make up theological terms and say we belong to a man because He came up with some doctrines. Yes, Martin Luther and John Calvin really helped in the building of today’s church foundation but Calvin and Luther belong to Christ. There’s no need to call yourself a ‘Calvinist’ or a ‘Lutheran’. This was what the church in corinth did that Paul wrote to them about in 1 Corinthians 1:12-13:

What I mean is this, that each one of you [either] says, I belong to Paul, or I belong to Apollos, or I belong to Cephas (Peter), or I belong to Christ.

13Is Christ (the Messiah) divided into parts? Was Paul crucified on behalf of you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

Calvin and Luther were servants of Christ. The doctrines they came up with were not their doctrines but the doctrines of the Bible inspired by the Holy Spirit. Maybe if everyone stuck to the name ‘Christian’ (instead of Lutheran, pentecostal, baptist, methodist etc) the world will not think christianity is a joke. Another thing i find quite strange is when preachers say their teachings can be plagiarised. I don’t understand how the word of God can be plagiarised. If you teach something, you didn’t reveal it to yourself, the Holy Spirit did. Can a teaching of the Holy Spirit be plagiarised? Is it not for the benefit of the body of Christ? I don’t understand this but if you read this and you think there’s an explanation for it i’ll be more than happy to hear what you have to say :). I take hope and joy from Christ’s promise however : I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

Love cannot and should not be separated from the gifts of the spirit. Neither should faith be separated from Love. God has taught me that no virtue in the Bible should be separated from Love. Not grace, or faith, or patience. Love is a complete fulfillment of the law. The gifts of the spirit should be rooted in Love. These days you have many churches that teach faith and all i ever get out from some of the sermons i hear about faith is a willpower that lasts for a couple of days. Faith come by hearing, studying and meditating on the word of God. But do you know what the Bible says about what Love does to Faith? Do you know what gives energy to your faith? Or what activates the faith you get from the word of God? Love is the answer.

Galatians 5:6 (Amplified Version) says: 6For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love.

So love is the battery for your faith torchlight. Your faith grows from the word, but your faith needs love to activate it, energize it, express it and to work it out to the glory of God. Basically, your faith is useless without love. Just as faith without works is dead(works without faith is dead too), Love without Faith is dead. Love is the way we do the good works God wants us to do.

Note that everytime i say love in this post, i’m mostly talking about letting God love us. I believe very strongly that when we let God love us we let us love us, and we let us love others. If you miss the first step you miss it all. If i was to explain this practically, i would say letting God love us is letting Him be involved in everything in our lives and having an intimate relationship with Him. Sometimes i even ask God things like ‘Which subject do you want me to study today Lord?’. That’s what God wants from us. He wants to be our best friend and trust Him, and cast every single care on Him. Every worry, every fear, every tear. Just tell it all to Him. He wants to be our counselor, our Helper, comforter, intercessor, strengthener. He wants to be our all. If we can just humble ourselves to be like little children and live simple lives where we don’t attempt to hide anything from God or keep worrying about things but cast all our cares on Him, our lives will change. This is what i admire from David in the Bible. He was honest with God. He told God his greatest fears, and described to God about how he felt when he was down. He praised God the best way he could when he had victories. I believe this was why David could have such revelations on the coming of Jesus, and many other things he wrote about in the psalms.

I’ll continue this topic in my next post, cause i think its quite a lot to discuss in one post.

God Bless! 😀

My Perfect Love

In light of the revelations God has been giving me recently on His love i was meditating on what i had learned; And then God reminded me of His word to me on the 21st of February this year. Usually, when i hear God speak to me about certain things, i never note it down. But that day, i really felt like the Holy Spirit wanted me to type it, so i typed it on microsoft word immediately.

That same day, i had a prayer meeting to go for at church, and i was so excited about what God said to me. I typed it before the prayer meeting, took it with me, and read it out to them. However, i told them that i felt this was what God was saying to me, and although it may be benefiting to them, i didn’t know if it was a word for the church too.

Interestingly, at the time God spoke to me, i thought it had something to do with my exams. I thought something really bad was going to happen to me, and then through that bad thing, God will fulfil what He had promised. But only recently, God reminded me of what He said and told me what has been happening in my life recently is what he was speaking to me about. Most interestingly, God has given a word through many people at my church about how we need to build our foundation of love before he sends people in to the church. I look back at what God said to me that day and realise that the word was not just for me, but for my church. This was what i heard God say to me:

Main Word Summary: I know you by name, I will show you my perfect love and you will know my perfect love. You will experience my love.

Notes from Scripture: 1 John 4:18 says 18There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. Do you not know that everything I give is perfect and is there anything I start that I don’t bring to completion? My loving-kindness is perfect, My Strength and power are perfect in your weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9- But he said to me, My grace (my favor and LOVING-KINDNESS and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show yourselves most effective in [your weakness]. Therefore you should all the more gladly glory in your weaknesses and infirmities, that my (Christ the Messiah) strength and power may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell upon you.

Paul said in Philippians 1:6- And I am convinced and sure of this very thing that He who began a good work (Christ’s work of love) in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ[right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

Fear not, for I am with you, my love is being made perfect and my work of love in you is coming to completion. Rejoice in your hardships, distresses, infirmities, persecutions and perplexities for when you are weak [in human strength] then are you [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).I don’t want you to just have mere knowledge of my love for you, I want you to experience my love for you in every edge and corners in your life. [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]! (Ephesians 3:19)

I’m eternally grateful to God for what he has revealed to me recently about his love. And till He is done with teaching me i will never stop declaring and speaking about his love and faithfulness. I used to think His love was about singing ‘Jesus loves me, yes i know. For the Bible tells me so’. I had heard ‘Jesus loves you’ so much that it didn’t even matter to me anymore if i heard it. Most people think they know God’s love but only today God told me: If my people knew my love they will not feel guilt or condemnation or live in fear, or be faithless and unbelieving, or live in sin; there would be no anxiety or hopelessness and they would know it is much more than words or singing a couple of songs but it comes with power. If they knew how much I loved them they wouldn’t have any problems loving themselves and other people

You cannot love yourself or anyone else if you don’t know how much God loves you. Where love abides, God abides, because God is love.

1 John 11:12: 11Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another.

12No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us!

The More I Seek You

The song ‘The more i seek You’ by Kari Jobe and ‘How He Loves us’ written by John Mark Mcmillan have been a perfect description of what happens when we abide in the presence of God always and when God really shows us how much He loves us. The love of God to me is everything. Like Kim Walker from Jesus Culture said, ‘You will know when you’ve experienced the love of God because you never remain the same afterwards’. I’ll post a sort of combination of the lyrics of both songs and the lines that really mean a lot to me.

The more i seek You, the more i find You

The more i find You, the more i love You

Oh How He loves us jealously, How great his affections are for us

Love like a hurricane; I am a tree bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy

Drawn by Redemption by the grace in His eyes; If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking

Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss and my heart turns violently inside of my chest

I don’t have time to maintain these regrets

I want to sit at Your feet

Drink from the cup in Your hand

Lay back against You and breathe and feel Your heartbeat

This love is so deep; Far much more than i can stand

I melt in Your peace.. Its overwhelming

Psalm 63

A Psalm of David; when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.

1O GOD, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.

2So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.

3Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.

4So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
